The LowRIDERz (An-Ten-Nae & DJ Laura) have been serving up ‘nasty ass bass-bombs’ out of Oakland to clamoring applause, amassing notoriety between shows featuring their live remixing and An-Ten-Nae’s mixtape releases. An-Ten-Nae’s collections develop the heavily west-coast subgenre Acid Crunk, a side of dubstep Adam O’Hana (An-Ten-Nae) describes as “less wobble and more depth. It’s the sound of the 808 reaching new depths. It takes the deep nasty swank of Hip hop and merges it with next level electronics.” His latest, “Acid Crunk Vol. 4,” showcases the strongest bass from a menagerie of competent up-and-comers and heavyweights alike, including Griz, Sugarpill, David Starfire, Ooah (of the Glitch Mob), and a number of delicious “moombahton reclick” remixes by FreQ Nasty and An-Ten-Nae himself. Acid Crunk Vol. 4 is “a snapshot of the current bass scene and where it’s going. It features a wide array of bass heavy music in its many forms.” Take some of the albums best below, and play them loud.
