SunSquabi, a “livetronica” trio based out of Boulder, Colorado, has just released the first of three new tracks off their latest EP titled “Lone Star.” The tune is subsequently titled Lone Star, and perfectly captures their ability to keep high-energy funk in a combined setting of organic and electronic methods of music production. With a busy festival season, two full-length albums, a remix EP and their current extended play, SunSquabi is truly beginning to gain recognition and following in Colorado’s music scene, as well as the national level.
Having played sets at events such as Wakarusa, Snowball, Sonic Bloom, and River Beats Music Festival, it is always a surprise to their fans and listeners that the formation of SunSquabi only occurred in March of 2011. Drummer/Percussionist Chris Anderson, Guitarist/APC Pilot Kevin Donohue and Bassist/Percussionist Andrew Cylmer have been working exceptionally hard to extend their compositions to every type of music fan – and it definitely appears to be working.
This new single possesses a vibrant and animated rhythm, complete with the soulful guitar melodies that SunSquabi is known for. And about half-way through, the track momentarily breaks down into a sedated vibe, but then progresses back up to their dynamic and passionate refrains. The new EP, “Lone Star” surely marks an escalating point in SunSquabi’s musical career; a quality, definitive sound and consistent effort that is sure to pay off for these three musicians.
Download the track for FREE (in addition to their whole discography) on their BandCamp or SoundCloud, and be on the look-out for the next two tracks in the coming weeks!
