Throwback Thursday | 2012 Music Blast

With a surge in progressive house, the emergence of trap, deep house on Beatport's top 10, Q-Dance in America, and more amazing music than ever before, 2012 was quite an interesting year for EDM.  This edition of Throwback Thursday is aimed at looking back at a variety of tracks that made us stop and appreciate the amount of quality music this last year.

Progressive house had a clear dominance with chart topping tracks from artists like Hardwell, Avicii, Zedd, Porter Robinson, and Swedish House Mafia to name a few.  Trap came on hard in the second half of 2012 via Flosstradamus, Clockwork's alter ego RL Grime, and the masked ƱZ showing us how to use our snares and hi hats.  And although Q-Dance (read: Hardstyle) has had a huge influence in Europe over the years, it finally gained a place in the US through big Showtek collaborations and even a dedicated Q-Dance stage at EDC. 

House, Dubstep, and Trance also had wonderful releases in 2012 and we included a few of them in our huge list of tracks below:
