It was recently announced that Tiësto has partnered up with the humanitarian organization, (Red), and created an exclusive compilation titled DANCE (RED), SAVES LIVES. It features artists such as Calvin Harris, Avicii, Diplo, Laidback Luke, Martin Solveig, and an exclusive collaboration between Tiësto and founder of (Red) and U2’s front man, Bono. They will also be throwing an epic party for an epic cause, because that’s what DJ’s do best! A live stream- thanks to our friends at YouTube- will air from the Stereosonic Festival in Melbourne, letting fans from all around the globe join the fight in ending AIDS by 2015 and show the world the power of electronic dance music. The stream will go live Dec 1st and 2nd !
(RED) has generated $200 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, to support HIV/AIDS grants in Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia. 100 percent of that money goes to work on the ground – no overhead is taken. Global Fund grants that (RED) supports have impacted more than 14 million people with prevention, treatment, counseling, HIV testing and care services. (RED) has led several high-profile initiatives to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS related issues including (PRODUCT)RED, THE AIDS FREE GENERATION IS DUE IN 2015 campaign and most recently, the (RED)RUSH TO ZERO campaign.
The war against AIDS faces a critical battle: to deliver the first AIDS Free Generation since HIV was diagnosed 31 years ago. In 2003, new childhood HIV infections peaked with more than 1,500 babies born with HIV every day. For only 40 cents a day, mothers can be treated to prevent transmission to their unborn children, and just over 900 babies are now born daily with the virus. By 2015, that number can be near zero. Ending mother-to-child transmission of HIV is a component of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
